one of those days

yesterday, i visited my family and we ventured to a lovely area of where they live. it houses numerous coffee shops, book stores, and vintage clothing stores. every girl's dream, right?

im ridiculously jealous and bitter about my cousin's luck in living 10 minutes away from such a glorious place. (hi jillee.)

first, we grabbed some coffee.

oh, and check out my hair! i feel like a new person.

i got myself a mocha cappuccino (mmm).

then we saw a sign outside a pub for $5 baked mac and cheese and found it absolutely necessary to take advantage of it. it wasn't warm enough yet to sit outside(above), but after eating, we shot some pictures on the deck.

i spotted a bookstore, and to the displeasure of my cousin and sister, it pretty much took up the rest of our day. i can't get enough of rows upon rows of books.

i came away with four books!

then i stopped in starbucks for a berry hibiscus refresher, my favorite non-coffee starbucks drink, while the rest of the gang got some gelato.

 then we found a rad wall, and if you're a blogger, you know how important rad walls are.

it was picturesque and it's days like these that remind you to take in the sights and relish the little pleasures.

psychedelically sweet

the other night, i was the master of ceremonies at a fundraising event along with my friend, so i didn't want to wear anything too out there and freak anyone out! i went with pairing a printed peplum top with a leather jacket and some jeans. the print on the top has an almost psychedelic floral pattern, but at the same time, they kind of look like little candies!

i bought some red shoe laces to put in my docs from a shoe store for about $2. it's a very easy way to change up your everyday shoes for cheap.

now that spring is coming, and i'm hoping that the worst of the storms are over, i'm getting into adding more color to my daily outfits. in the fall and winter, i tend to gravitate towards all blacks, grays, and burgundies. i think pastels are great to pair with those blacks you already have in your wardrobe in order to welcome the spring season.

i really dig this jacket i bought at macy's today. 

it was on sale for $30. i've been searching for a black leather jacket for a while now and thought this had some real character to it, with the roughed-up leather, and flannel panel.

my room: tea bag lights

i recently redid my room, and came up with an idea that i want to share with you. i don't know about you, but i drink a lot of tea. 2-3 cups a day. i generally stick to yogi teas, which tags have inspirational sayings on them like "the best way to live is to simply be" and "when you are in tune with the unknown, the known is peaceful." those are two of my favorites.

i took a string and tied a needle to the end, creating a little sewing device to pull the tags through. every time i drank a tea, i would rip off the tag and string it on. it was a fun little project to undertake, and i really like how it came out. you can make it as long as you want, but mine has about 10 tags on it. i also have lights hung up on the wall, so they almost mirror each other. at night, it creates a charming little corner next to my bed. here is a tag close up:
